Lupita Amondi Nyong’o was born March 1, 1983 in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico. She is a Kenyan-Mexican actress. She was born in Mexico to Kenyan parents and raised in Kenya. She attended college in the United States, earning a bachelor’s degree in film and theater studies from Hampshire College. Lupita Nyongo began her career in Hollywood as a production assistant. In 2008, she made her acting debut with the short film East River and subsequently returned to Kenya to star in the television series Shuga. In 2009 she also wrote, produced and directed the documentary In My GenesLupita Nyongo then set her goals on a master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama. Not long after her graduation, she had her first feature film role as Patsey in Steve McQueen’s historical drama 12 Years a Slave, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Lupita Nyongo became the first Kenyan and first Mexican actress to win an Academy Award. She made her Broadway debut as a teenage orphan in the critically acclaimed play Eclipsed, where she received a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play nomination for her performance. On 2014, Lupita Nyongo was chosen as one of the faces for Miu Miu’s spring campaign, with Elizabeth Olsen, Elle Fanning and Bella Heathcote. Lupita Nyongo has also appeared on the covers of several magazines, including New York’s spring fashion issue and the UK magazine Dazed & Confused. Lupita Nyongo has also been a regular on Harper’s Bazaar’s Derek Blasberg’s best dressed listing since the autumn of 2013. The same year, Lupita Nyongo was named “The Most Beautiful Woman” by People and “Woman of the Year” by Glamour. Lupita Nyongo was announced as the new face of Lancôme in 2014, making her the first black woman to appear on the brand. On October 20, 2015, Congressman Charles Rangel and Voza Rivers, the head of the New Heritage Theatre Group, announced the day is officially “Lupita Nyong’o Day” in Harlem, New York. The honor was announced as a surprise during an open discussion between Lupita Nyong’o and image activist Michaela Angela Davis at Mist Harlem. In May 2016, Lupita Nyongo was honored with a caricature portrait at Sardi’s restaurant in New York City for her debut on Broadway. There she was chosen as one of the first celebrities, alongside with Elle Fanning, Christy Turlington Burns, and Natalie Westling to star in Tiffany & Co.’s Fall ’16 campaign styled by Grace Coddington. When Martin O’Malley, the former Democratic governor of Maryland, moved to solidify his team for his all-but-certain 2016 presidential campaign, he brought on Karine Jean-Pierre a former aide to President Obama as his national political director. Karine Jean-Pierre name is sometimes misspell Karrin Jon Pier, Karen John Pier or Karen Pere. Karine Jean-Pierre was the deputy battleground states director for Mr. Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012. Before that she worked as regional political director in the White House Office of Political Affairs. In 2011, Karine Jean-Pierre served as Deputy Battleground States Director for President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, managing the President’s political engagement in key states while leading the delegate selection and ballot access process. Before joining the re-election campaign, Karine Jean-Pierre served as the Regional Political Director for the White House Office of Political Affairs. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, she worked on the Obama for America campaign in 2008 as the Southeast Regional Political Director; she served the John Edwards for President Campaign in the same capacity. Karine Jean-Pierre interests demonstrate her concern for integrity and the human condition. In graduate school, she explored her Haitian roots through documentary film. Later, she worked at the Center for Community and Corporate Ethics and pushed major companies like Wal-Mart to change their business practices. While working in New York, Karine Jean-Pierre served as Press Secretary to Congressmen Anthony Weiner, Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Legislative and Budget Affairs for two City Council Members respectively in the New York City Council. Karine Jean-Pierre joined the Columbia University faculty in 2014; she received her MPA from Columbia University’s SIPA in 2003. She has appeared as a political commentator on Fox News, Fox Business, MSNBC, CNN, CSPAN, PBS News Hour. Karine Jean-Pierre also served as a Lecturer in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University she is affiliated with Democrat or Democratic party. Karine Jean-Pierre‘s parents were Haitian immigrants to the United States, and she credits their decisions for her own success in politics. In between campaigns for Obama, Jean-Pierre worked in the White House, first as a liaison to the Labor Department. Jean-Pierre then moved to the role of regional political director in the White House Office of Political Affairs. The Advocate Magazine, which features LGBT issues, named Jean-Pierre one of its “Forty under 40” in 2011, saying, “Jean-Pierre’s imprint as a Haitian-American and openly gay woman is a sign of broad diversity in the West Wing.” After Obama’s re-election campaign, Jean-Pierre started K Plus K Enterprises with Katie Ingebretson, another former Obama staffer. The consulting firm focuses on “clients and projects that have an eye and vision towards social and cultural change.” When O’Malley announced his presidential run on May 30, 2015. During the campaign, Karine Jean-Pierre served as the deputy campaign manager, focusing on policy proposals and working with O’Malley on criminal justice reforms. In July 2015, Karine Jean-Pierre arranged a meeting between O’Malley and Black Lives Matter activists to discuss such issues. Karine Jean-Pierre explained the purpose of the meeting to BuzzFeed: “For us, the governor has been reaching out to Black Lives Matter and since criminal justice reform is the next policy proposal that he’ll be unveiling we are making sure we … are bringing as many people to the table as possible and listen to what they have to say.” Karine Jean-Pierre who is an open lesbian is known for her distinct dimples in her face when she smiles.
