Portia Simpson-Miller was born 12th December 1945 in Jamaica. She is a politician and leader of the People’s National Party. Portia Simpson-Miller is the first female Prime Minister of Jamaica. She is the seventh Prime Minister of Jamaica, currently serving since 5 January 2012 and previously from March 2006 to September 2007. She was Leader of the Opposition between her two terms. While serving as Prime Minister, Simpson-Miller retained the positions of Minister of Defence, Development, Information and Sports. She had served as Minister of Labour, Social Security and Sport, Minister of Tourism and Sports and Minister of Local Government throughout the years. Following her second election win in December 2011, when her party defeated the Jamaica Labour Party, she became the second individual to have served non-consecutive terms, the first having been Michael Manley. Simpson-Miller was ranked by Time magazine as among its “100 Most Influential Persons in the World” in 2012. Simpson-Miller was named Person of the Year by The Gleaner and Observer in the Gleaner awards 2011. Simpson-Miller is a member of the Council of Women World Leaders, an international network of current and former female presidents and prime ministers. Simpson-Miller is also known as “Sista ‘P’ or ‘Mama P’ ”

 

Michelle Obama was born on January 17 th 1964. She is an American lawyer and writer, is the wife of the 44th and current President of the United States, Barack Obama, and the first African-American First Lady of the United States. Before she was married she was known as Michelle LaVaughn Robinson. She was born to Fraser Robinson III, a city water plant employee and Democratic precinct captain, and Marian (née Shields), a secretary at Spiegel’s catalog store. Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Michelle Obama attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School before returning to Chicago to work at the law firm Sidley Austin, where she met her future husband. Subsequently, she worked as part of the staff of Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, and for the University of Chicago Medical Center. Throughout 2007 and 2008, she helped campaign for her husband’s presidential bid. She delivered a keynote address at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and also spoke at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. She is the mother of daughters Malia and Natasha (Sasha). As the wife of a Senator, and later the First Lady, she has become a fashion icon and role model for women, and an advocate for poverty awareness, nutrition, and healthy eating. Michelle Obama, The First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS) is the hostess of the White House, advisor to the President, and often plays a role in social activism. The position is traditionally held by the wife of the President of the United States, concurrent with his term of office. If the President is not married, or if the President’s wife is unable to act as First Lady, then the President asks a female relative or friend to fill the role. The current First Lady is Michelle Obama who, as a result of the re-election of Barack Obama on November 6, 2012, is scheduled to serve until January 20, 2017.

Michelle Obama met Barack Obama when they were among the few African Americans at their law firm, Sidley Austin (she has sometimes said only two, although others have pointed out there were others in different departments),and she was assigned to mentor him as a summer associate.Their relationship started with a business lunch and then a community organization meeting where he first impressed her. The couple’s first date was to the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing. They married in October 1992, and have two daughters, Malia Ann (born 1998) and Natasha (known as Sasha, born 2001)
