Stef Kalloo was born Stephanie Kalloo January 8th in Port of Spain of Trinidad and Tobago. She attended the Lakshmi Girls’ High School. Her genres are Caribbean pop /fusion. She is signed to an Indie record label known as Question Mark Entertainment. Stef Kalloo  a singer/songwriter began singing at the early age of 4. She would sing gospels for her parents and Grandparents which eventually led to her singing in the children’s choir at church. During the early years of high/secondary school at Lakshmi Girls Hindu College, Stef started experimenting with song writing and guitar playing. At the tender age of 12 she wrote her first song. She was a part of the school choir and music classes taught at the school and also joined a pop rock band called “Atlantis” at the age of 17 where they performed gigs on weekends at several night lounges and clubs. During the first year at The University of the West Indies while pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Agri-Business Management, Stef was introduced to producer Carl ‘Beaver’ Henderson where she auditioned to work with him. He instantly agreed to working with her and became her manager for a period of five years teaching her new ways of developing her song writing and singing abilities. She also began Arabian Dancing at the N9 Dance Company and became an advanced member and part of the performing troupe for a period of five years. Here, she met lifelong friends who were creatively similar to herself. She also began vocal training with singer/songwriter Glenda Collens to develop her vocal skills and sound. She started to blend sounds of pop, techno, dancehall and world beats to create her fusion music which can be categorized as Caribbean Pop/Fusion. Her first single “Dance the Night Away” was launched September 2010 via music video on YouTube and local TV station “Synergy TV” as well as at her debut performance at the Angostura “BOLD” launch where she was the opening act. Stef Kalloo  also collaborated with Marlon Asher on the track “Beautiful Day” which has now been remixed in several versions for different territories in Europe. She plans to release new genres throughout the season as well as the summer time. Stephanie Kalloo  is ready to take the music industry by storm with more upcoming songs and performances. Her aim is to create one bridge across the globe so that everyone can be united in each song she writes and sings. Her music video Take It Up was directed by Fross for Fross Films and produced by Mark Cyrus for Masterroom Studios Ltd. The Take It Up music video was published by C2W Music, COTT and PRS, written by Candy Gloster, Stef Kalloo and Mark Cyrus and cinematography by Calvert Jones for Mcallister Designs Ltd. Stef Kalloo is poised to push through that door. Her new single ”Take it up” a reggae-infused, feel-good pop song with dance music inflections, is building a buzz. Talks are underway to get it into rotation on Trace TV, an urban music channel with reach to 160 countries. It’s already begun playing on Tempo TV. And the local media, having ambled away from their soca switch, are paying more attention to her than ever before. Trinidadian audiences would be forgiven for assuming that Kalloo’s musical journey has only just begun. In fact in 2014 the 28-year-old has been steadily building a career over the past decade or so. She juggled her agricultural science degree at The University of the West Indies (UWI) with Glenda Collens vocal coaching. She finessed her songwriting skills during a stint under the management of Carl “Beaver” Henderson. She provided the supporting vocals for Marlon Asher’s “Beautiful Day” a smiling reggae track that’s gotten attention from the Netherlands to Jamaica. And last year, under guidance of Caribbean 2 World’s Ivan Berry, she wrote and recorded an album in St Vincent with producer, Mark Cyrus. She’s also a dancer.  Stef Kalloo started belly dancing classes during her UWI days. Now she teaches the art. In the just-released video for ”Take it up”, a song she co-wrote with Candy Gloster and Mark Cyrus, Kalloo breezes through the Kingstown market, offers flowers and a helping hand to street dwellers, and sings while straddling a wooden upper floor window. It takes a certain audacity to pull this kind of thing off.
