Phil Robertson
Phil Robertson whose full name is Phil Alexander Robertson was born April 24, 1946. He is an American professional hunter, businessman (Duck Commander), and reality television star on the popular television series Duck Dynasty. He is also featured on the television show Buck Commander, a hunting program on the Outdoor Channel. Robertson is married with four children, a devout Christian and strongly pro-life. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he played football, but turned down an opportunity to play professionally with the Washington Redskins. He received a master’s degree in education and spent several years teaching. Phil Robertson became the central figure in a 2013 controversy after he was suspended by A&E after saying that homosexual behavior is sinful in an interview with GQ. Facing what was reported as “a strong backlash from Robertson’s supporters”, A&E lifted the suspension after nine days.
As an avid duck hunter, Phil Robertson was dissatisfied with the condition of duck calls. He began to experiment with making a call that would produce the exact sound of a duck. He invented his first Duck Commander call in 1972. He received a patent for this call and the Duck Commander Company was incorporated in 1973. Today, the company of Duck Commander is a multi-million dollar empire, headed by his son, Willie Robertson.
Robertson is the Duck Dynasty patriarch, the father and grandfather of the Robertson clan. When A&E decided to add bleeps to the show to add “spice”, Robertson went to the network and told them to not make it seem like they use profanity, as they do not. Also, while they did not cut prayers, they did cut out the part of Robertson’s prayer where he said “in Jesus’ name”. When A&E told them that they did not want to offend the Muslim population, Phil asked, “What year is it?” They replied “2012.” He pointed out that the year was 2012 AD, or in the year of Our Lord. He asked them why they would take someone out who the entire universe is based on. He also asked A&E how many Muslims were watching Duck Dynasty.
Donald Gibb
Donald Richard Gibb known as Donald Gibb or Don Gibb was born August 4 th 1954. He is an American actor born in New York City, New York and raised in California. He is known for his imposing 6 ft-4 in frame, best known for his roles as the hulking, dimwitted fraternity brother “Ogre” in several installments of the Revenge of the Nerds film series, and as Leslie “Dr. Death” Krunchner on the HBO sitcom 1st & Ten.
Donald Gibb attended Notre Dame high school in Sherman Oaks California. Upon graduation he went to the University of New Mexico on a basketball scholarship, where he joined Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He then transferred to University of San Diego to play football. Donald Gibb played basketball for the University of San Diego team on scholarship. He played briefly for the San Diego Chargers before turning to acting, beginning with small, uncredited roles in Stripes and Conan the Barbarian.
He had a roster spot on the San Diego Chargers prior to embarking on an acting career. He started out in movies in the early 1980s with uncredited bit parts in Any Which Way You Can (1980) and Stripes (1981). He was likewise memorable as raucous martial arts fighter Ray Jackson in the exciting Bloodsport (1988) and wildman tennis player Ripper in the amusing Jocks (1984).Among the television series Donald has done guest spots on are Alice (1976), The A-Team (1983), Magnum, P.I. (1980), Knight Rider (1982), The Facts of Life (1979), Hunter (1984), Night Court (1984), MacGyver (1985), Quantum Leap (1989), The X-Files (1993) and The Young and the Restless (1973). Donald Gibb lives in Chicago, Illinois and is the co-owner of and spokesman for the Chicago karaoke bar Trader Todd’s.
